Polls tighten

The only real poll is Tuesday.It is much closer than most pollsters admit. Some of those polls have been overweighted in favour of Dems which is why Obama was "leading". Now that the election is near, they are in CYA mode. In 2004 the exit "polls" showed Kerry was leading but he actually lost.

Polls As A Weapon

"I have a strong suspicion that some polls have been manipulated in this election cycle for the clear purpose of discouraging and demoralizing conservatives. This morning is no exception. Just hours before Election Day, a CBS poll has Obama up 13 points. Gallup has him up ten. But in every state poll, the race appears to be tightening significantly, with key states like Florida, Missouri, North Carolina, Ohio and Pennsylvania up for grabs. Obama can’t have a double digit lead if big states show the candidates within one or two points.

Here are two things to remember. The polling all year has overestimated Obama’s strength. For example, going into the California Democrat primary, the Zogby poll showed Barack Obama attracting 49% of the vote to Hillary’s 36%. Rasmussen had a toss-up – Obama 45%, Clinton 44%. The final vote was Clinton 51.9%, Obama 42.3%. The pollsters weren’t even close! Zogby predicted a 13-point Obama win, but it ended up a nine-point Clinton victory, for a mere 22-point “mistake.” California was not an exception – the pollsters missed most of the primary results nationally.

Between now and tomorrow night, ignore the polls, including the so-called “exit polls” that will be leaked throughout the day. I remember well the buzz that ran through Washington four years ago as exits polls show a Kerry “landslide.” (At one point in the evening, Kerry aides began calling him “Mr. President.”)

Vote early! Pray! Find one other McCain/Palin supporter and get them to the polls. Make a phone call to a relative. Every day I get reports of parents and grandparents who have been able to switch family members from Obama/Biden to McCain/Palin.


Obama’s Energy Shocker

Two stories broke over the weekend about Barack Obama’s Big Government views on energy. In my opinion, either statement should disqualify any candidate from consideration for public office by serious voters, because they betray a radical, anti-free market philosophy and could literally make us poorer and more dependent on foreign sources of energy.

The first story comes from a November 9, 2007, interview Obama did with Iowa Public Television and reporters from the Associated Press and the Des Moines Register. On escalating energy costs, Obama said government-directed “price signals” should control the market in order to change consumer behavior. In other words, Obama wants to INCREASE energy costs to make us use less. WorldNetDaily has provided a partial transcript of the exchange between Obama and the reporters:

Associated Press reporter MIKE GLOVER: “How do you convince people to change their lifestyle, to live differently?"

OBAMA: “I think it is important for us to send some price signals to change behavior. You know, if electricity goes up, people start becoming more mindful of their electricity bill.”

When Des Moines Register reporter David Yepsen asked Obama what part of his campaign Americans may not like to hear, the candidate returned to the theme of price signals.

OBAMA: “Number one, we’re going to have to start doing a better job of conserving on energy. Americans like to drive their big SUVs. They like to leave all the lights on in their house. We’re going to have to change our habits. We’re going to have to cap the emission of greenhouse gasses. That means that power plants are going to have to adjust how they generate power. They will pass on those costs to consumers. … A lot of us who can afford it are going to have to pay more per unit of electricity, and that means we’re going to have to change our light bulbs, we’re going to have to shut the lights off in our houses.”

Do you want the government telling you that your house is too warm or too cold? Do you want the government telling you what kind of car you can drive? But when it comes to government control of the economy and our energy supply, Obama is a true believer in state control of major industries. Obama’s other energy shocker came during an interview with the San Francisco Chronicle in January. Here’s what the Democrat presidential nominee said about intentionally bankrupting a major American industry:

“So if somebody wants to build a coal-powered plant, they can; it’s just that it will bankrupt them because they’re going to be charged a huge sum for all that greenhouse gas that’s being emitted. …The only thing I’ve said with respect to coal, I haven’t been some coal booster. What I have said is that for us to take coal off the table as a ideological matter, as opposed to saying if technology allows us to use coal in a clean way, we should pursue it. So if somebody wants to build a coal-powered plant, they can. It’s just that it will bankrupt them.”

No candidate for president of the United States should be trying to bankrupt any legitimate industry. It is revealing in the middle of economic crisis that one candidate for president has attacked the drug industry; attacked the insurance industry; attacked the defense industry; attacked the coal industry; attacked the oil industry. All these groups represent American families and American jobs. But Barack Obama wants some government bureaucrat in Washington, D.C., to pick “winners and losers.”

But, worse yet, his attack on the coal industry amounts to national suicide. America is the Saudi Arabia of coal, and nearly half of all the electricity that is generated in America is produced from coal. Yet Barack Obama wants to “bankrupt” the industry that provides light in your home and keeps our businesses and factories running. Joe Biden has already been caught on camera saying “No coal plants in America.” And now we know that Obama wants to bankrupt the coal industry.

Oh, by the way, evidently if you object to Obama’s socialist tax scheme, Joe Biden thinks you’re “unpatriotic” and Barack Obama thinks you’re “selfish.” Responding to criticism from John McCain and Sarah Palin about his plan to “spread the wealth,” Obama said Friday, “I don’t know when they decided they wanted to make a virtue out of selfishness.” I think the American people should start asking why liberal politicians are so greedy, constantly demanding more and more of your hard-earned money!"

......Well, all of us in Mineral City care about the coal industry in this country (and not just because it is fun to fill up Christmas stockings with the stuff for those who deserve it most), so we sent out word to everyone we know about Obama’s plans, and just about everyone in town has come running to help us mobilize Pennsylvania and Ohio for John McCain and Sarah Palin (because Hillary Clinton would fight to protect the jobs of our coal miners, and to safeguard this valuable American industry, and Mineral City is CLINTON COUNTRY and don’t you forget it!). Hillary mugs in hand, we’re standing strong beside our sister coffee club in Coal City, Pennsylvania, and with coffee clubs in Wyoming, West Virginia, Kentucky, Pennsylvania, Texas, Montana, Illinois, Virginia, North Dakota, Colorado, Indiana, New Mexico, Utah, Ohio, Alabama, and Arizona — all the states that produce coal, and employ hundreds of thousands of people in the energy industry. All those faceless people who work hard all day long so all things pretty, bright, and tall can sparkle in Manhattan, dazzling Obamacrats like Ann-Louise who never wonder where all the “pretty” comes from..........

They are within 2 points- a swing of 1% towards McCain by undecideds will have them tied. Right now McCain has the momentum. Obama spent $600 million and they're within 2 points means there are a lot of people that have doubts about Obama despite what the polls say.Otherwise Obama could have coasted if he was so secure. With the flood of money he should have been 20 points ahead. Maybe the pollsters could explain that.
