Lorrie Goldstein- Revolving Door Justice

Bumped- newer posts below

...."That said, we all know what the big Liberal anti-crime initiative was during their 12 years in power, don't we? Remember? Gun control.

Want to know how many of Canada's two million licensed gun owners used their firearm to kill someone between 1997 and 2005? 0.00555%. Want to know how many accused murderers in 2005 had a prior criminal record? 64%.

Want to know how many had a prior record for homicide? 6%. Oops. "

Note...

It's an old political trick that when politicians don't really want to do something( in this case protecting the public from criminals) they throw in everything including the kitchen sink so as to dissipate any focus on the real problem ,(Better known as a smokescreen) the problem becomes so enormous that they are paralyzed from doing anything. So the status quo remains- which is what they like. They would prefer to shift the problem onto 33 million Canadians than the few thousand criminals shuffling in and out of the revolving door justice system. Why they haven't done anything constructive for 10 years- this problem didn't crop up overnight, to protect Canadians , is a question that the media, if they were awake, should be asking. Why are criminals able to easily shoot people anytime, anywhere while honest law abiding taxpayers get saddled with additional rules that do nothing to put a crimp into the actions of the shooters.( shutting down an 88 year old shooting club that had a perfect safety record for instance) Focus on 33 million people or 5000 criminals? To the social engineers it's a no brainer- concentrate on the innocent 33 million Canadians.

Bill Roggio's report on Iraq

Border patrol Union VP will be on Glenn Beck Monday

"08-03-07 Local 2544 Vice-President Brandon Judd will appear on the Glen Beck program (CNN) on Monday, August 6th to discuss the Corbett case. Agent Corbett has been charged with crimes by the Cochise County Attorney for doing his job. The charges can only be viewed as another political appeasement to the Mexican government. The Mexican Consulate has been involved in this debacle from the beginning. We have eyewitnesses that saw Mexican Consulate officials tampering with "witnesses" prior to the "witnesses" being questioned by the Cochise County Sheriff's office (note: the "witnesses" are all related to the alleged "victim"). We complained, and got the usual runaround from our government. The President of Mexico immediately called for this agent's head on a platter without having one ounce of evidence presented. He must have powers beyond those possessed by us mortals. The Bush Administration added another insult when the United States Department of Justice refused to help defend this agent against these ridiculous charges. Thankfully, the agent is a Union member and will be provided two highly competent attorneys throughout the entire process, free of charge. When the agent is acquitted of criminal charges, the family of the alleged victim will undoubtedly pursue civil rights charges (aided and abetted by the Mexican government, as usual). They'll want lots of money. We'll provide attorneys to defend those bogus allegations as well. Whatever these clowns want to dish out, we'll stand ready to respond. This agent will be vigorously defended against any allegation they can think of."

Amir Taheri- Iraq

"Tell the Iraqis that their political games may help the enemy, and they will tell you that they are practicing nothing but democracy.

As always, the situation in Iraq can be saved only if two conditions are met.

First, a bipartisan accord in Washington not to board that last helicopter from Baghdad. Secondly, a genuine accord among Shiite, Sunni and Kurdish parties and groups not to interpret military success against the insurgents as a signal for internecine feuds motivated by sectarian prejudices and a thirst for power."

Sue-Ann Levy-Spending money like water

The ads were brought to my attention by a Toronto small business owner who wondered why a cash-strapped regime would even think of running them in the first place.

He feels city officials care little about how much they soak taxpayers....

Kevin Gaudet, Ontario director of the Canadian Taxpayers Federation, says he's hopeful c ity officials will come "up with something credible" although all he's seen as of late is threats to cut key services unless the mayor gets his tax money.

"I haven't seen a credible comment yet on cost efficiencies, prioritized spending, any level of cost reduction," he said. "There's no evidence they're open to anything other than cutting police, raising taxes or getting more money from the province."

10-POINT PLAN

Stephen Thiele, co-founder of the Toronto Party, has a 10-point plan to reduce what he figures is $690 million in city spending. It proposes some solid measures like contracting out services to save some $30 million, reducing councillor officer budgets to $20,000, cancelling all grants programs, opening up the tendering process so that contractors don't have to use the city's fair wage schedule, uploading the provincial drug benefit program and so on.

Asked whether he thinks Miller and his minions would be prepared to look at any of these ideas, he said no. ....
