And some people want to make excuses for these characters?

"Withdraw the troops. We give you one month. Then we will act, starting a bloody war at the heart of Europe", the statement began, as cited by Italian online media."

The better to lull Canadians to sleep

The Headline probably should have read -Canadian "government "not prepared for home-grown terrorist threat:

It's been 4 years since 9/11.

That's more than plenty of time to have been prepared but obviously Canadians' security was not a priority.Otherwise CSIS would have had 700 more staff members- the RCMP would have had 2500 more officers and CBSA would have had at least 1200 more people. That would only bring them up to the levels they were 12 years ago.

The first responders would have had a number of major disaster simulations already and 6000 would have had advanced training. It's not that Canadians are unprepared , it's the fact that the government did the least they could get away with to give the perception that all was well. The media were asleep or else these holes would have been plugged long ago. If the terrorists pulled off an attack, the first responders would have to spring into action within minutes, drills or no drills. So if they have to do this within minutes, why has it taken four years for the government to provide them with the proper funding to carry out their duties if there is a major attack ? It takes practice to make sure the various agencies work smoothly under different ,difficult scenarios and with integrated communications equipment.Time is of the essence? -Not in Canada? $9 billion for security?-It would take an additional $250 million/year to provide reasonable staffing levels. So why didn't they get it with that $9 or $10 billion that is tossed around all the time? Couldn't have been a shortage of money.Prepared? no-just because the politicians are on vacation doesn't mean they can't unplug the bureaucratic roadblocks for a start. Just because Parliament won't be in session until about October doesn't mean AQ will wait until they get their act together. AQ has its own schedule.

"This lad has made a name for himself in the world."

Killing innocent people is wrong. Period. Anybody who doesn't understand this is not living in the civilized world.Any whitewashing , massaging or toning down of this heinous deed demeans the victims and their families. The sympathy should be going to the murderers' victims not the murderers and their minders enablers and brainwashers .It's the duty of a government to protect its citizens from such evil. It's the duty of the media to get their heads out of the sand because they could just as easily be in the wrong place at the wrong time themselves. Appeasement doesn't work, it encourages more of this evil.

Radical Islam and suicide bombers

"Ultimately, the suicide bomber is just another tool in the arsenal of the international terrorist groups. For the bomber, religion is the basic motivation or excuse. Their mission is legitimized by a supreme charismatic leader or Islamic cleric; special recruiters bring the suicide candidate together with the group. Eliminating the enablers— the recruiters and ideologists — wherever they are (mostly in London, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia) must therefore be the first step in eliminating the problem."

Can't imagine why this didn't make it into the paper.............

UNSCAM

"Investigators have discovered overseas bank accounts belonging to disgraced U.N. oil-for-food program head Benon Sevan that could unlock the mystery over whether he profited from dirty deals with Saddam Hussein, The Post has learned.

Sources close to the numerous probes of the giant U.N. scandal revealed that investigators have recently discovered that Sevan, who lives in New York, has accounts in Switzerland, Turkey and Cyprus — countries with notoriously tight bank secrecy laws.

Massive behind-the-scenes efforts are under way by investigative agencies to gain access to the records, according to officials with two separate agencies involved in the U.N. probe. "

The blame game begins

"Cabinet ministers are also known to share concerns that the government, the intelligence services and the police have failed to provide a 'fundamental right' to British people to live in a secure country."

What happens if people realize the security agencies have been underfunded by the government ? The first duty of a government is to protect its citizens.
