Some thoughts on the meaning of Independence Day

"We usually call it the "Fourth of July," but it's worth mentioning that what we celebrate on the Fourth of July is America's independence. Not America's membership in the family of nations, not America's connectedness with the rest of the world, not the many ways in which America is like other countries, but American independence."

RCMP Cpl.Read was only trying to keep gangsters out of the country but was fired for his efforts,- not because of incompetence, dishonesty or bad work ethic but for actually doing his job-only when his concerns weren't dealt with did he go to the media.Was keeping the public in the dark more important than keeping crooks out of the country?

Gun control- they could have hired or retained a couple of thousand officers instead of wasting precious dollars.

What is remarkable, however, is that the Liberals' 1995 controls -- requiring all owners and guns to be licensed -- seem to have had no discernable impact. Following implementation of those regulations, firearms deaths simply continued at the rate of decline begun in 1991.
