they blame the USA for everything.Would they prefer to be neighbours with North Korea?Iran? They take cheap shots at the USA for crass political partisanship and don't expect the USA to notice? They talk about the $700 billion dollar in trade with the USA but constantly knock or mock the USA.Is it a good idea to mock your largest customer and expect to get more business from them ?The USA is a fellow democracy. How many Canadians are still out of work in the softwood lumber industry and beef industry because a few high profile politicos took cheap shots at the Administration?
If 9/11 happened in Canada instead of the USA, the Americans would be the first to help. The Americans were the largest provider of humanitarian aid to Afghanistan even while the Taliban were in charge. They are providing $15 billion to help combat AIDS in Africa. A lot of Canadians have been so indoctrinated by those on the left, that mention the USA and they automatically revert to their Pavlovian anti American screed. Here's a bulletin,- not everyone buys their drivel that Americans are evil.
The media conveniently accentuate their agenda and negatively portray anyone that disagrees with their viewpoint. For example the media like to dump on the RCMP and CSIS over Arar but where are their stories from inside the totalitarian state of Syria? They like to make our security agencies out to be scapegoats while in reality they are trying to protect Canadians from terrorists. Terrorists don't walk around with neon signs.Rest assured that if there is an attack on Canada, the media and politicians will be nowhere to be found. The blame will be on those who are trying their best to prevent an attack even though they have been underfunded.Only in canada can fewer RCMP officers add up to better security. So where are the stories about torture In Syria ? Iran? Where were the stories about torture in Iraq when Saddam was in charge and over 300,000 slaughtered? Where are the stories from inside the gulags in North Korea. If the media give only half a story or avoid giving stories altogether, why should their readers and viewers rely on them for the news?
It's easy to criticize the USA, but sometimes if you live in a glass house you shouldn't be too quick to throw stones. The media pat themselves on the back at their excellent government "sources" but they seemed to be pretty quiet on the corruption front until the Auditor- General blew the whistle. The media didn't know anything for 10 years?? The USA has whistleblower legislation. One would assume the media in Canada would be very interested in seeing this type of legislation being passed - but we still don't have it- so much for transparency. So much for a complacent media.
Rather than criticize the USA all the time , maybe the media should look in the mirror .There's a reason millions of people turn to blogs. The media presents their version of events and filters stories their way.Maybe their version isn't the only version. As for John Gibson's comments- sometimes the truth hurts.
This is Canada Day and the U.S Independence Day weekend. We have a lot more in common than not ,so let's not be hypocritical and just enjoy the fact that we still live in the best part of the world and be thankful for that..
"As liberal as some Canadians may appear to be, they didn't vote for an NDP-Bloc far-left agenda. As Bricker says, "Most Canadians tend to be pretty squishy in the middle." Translation: Canadians are an apathetic bunch -- unless they catch Paul Martin lying to rock stars like Bob Geldof or Bono."
