Yet people are so complacent in North America ,they can't be bothered showing up to vote

"Bush has been absolutely critical to these changes," said Sharansky in response. "He defeated Saddam Hussein, one of the world's worst and most oppressive dictators. The fact that the leader of the free world is talking directly to dissidents and not just to dictators –men who are only interested in internal stability and not freedom - means a great deal for the establishment of democracy. Our leaders are our only hope for peace. The more people are given the choice of living in fear or living in freedom the less effective is the propaganda of extremism and the less chance terrorists and dictators will have to get support. Changes in the Mideast will continue for the better if we can link concessions with {totalitarian and authoritarian governments} with demands from us for democratic reforms."

Conservatives to release Grewal tapes to police

"Conservative officials have in their possession two CDs that hold up to three recorded conversations, said party spokesman Geoff Norquay.

He wouldn't say what the party plans to do with the tapes.

"The first thing we'll do is get them translated then we'll look at those issues," Norquay said.

Conservatives are calling on the PMO to release phone logs of all recent conversations between the office and Tory MPs."

Kroll Lindquist Avey Report...........

Judge turns down Gagliano's bid to help oust Justice Gomery

"A federal judge growled and denied Alfonso Gagliano's request to help oust the head of the sponsorship inquiry Tuesday.

Raising his voice several times and at one point groaning audibly, the judge turned down the ex-public works minister's court application. "It was an awful argument," Justice Max Teitelbaum told Gagliano's lawyer. "I look at the application of your client and it tells me nothing."

Sponsorship loss may be an additional $100 million

"The total amount of money lost in the sponsorship scandal now appears to be $355 million -- more than $100 million than was originally thought.

"If you didn't like the sponsorship program to begin with, you've now got about a hundred million more reasons to not like it," CTV's Jed Kahane told CTV Newsnet on Tuesday.

The new figure of $355 million is from the forensic accounting firm, Kroll Lindquist Avey.

"They have in the past looked for money from such people as Saddam Hussein, the Marcos family, Manuel Noriega -- that sort of thing," Kahane said.

"They're used to looking far and wide for money."

Forensic accountants follow the money at Gomery Commission

"They've tracked down Saddam Hussein's money and were hired to clean up the Enron scandal -- now they're ready to blow the lid off Adscam.

Internationally renowned forensic accounting firm Kroll Lindquist Avey is expected to shake the foundations of Justice John Gomery's inquiry today with a detailed report on whether pockets were lined in the sponsorship scandal.

The Kroll report is expected to follow the money trail from federal coffers to the Liberal friendly ad firms and possibly into the wallets of Grit organizers.

The findings are expected to make more waves than any other testimony before Gomery."

The real value of Gomery

"Gomery noted that Liberal government officials had exaggerated and distorted the costs of his inquiry by falsely suggesting its budget could reach $72 million, an erroneous figure that was then widely reported by the media.

Gomery said these officials had lumped in "God knows what expenses that were out of the control of the inquiry" to arrive at the $72 million. In fact, he said, the commission was $1.4 million under budget for 2004 and on target to meet its overall budget, set by the Liberal government itself, of $32 million.

While Gomery didn't say it, everyone knows some Liberals -- and Liberal-friendly media -- used these distorted figures to bash the commission and argue it would prove to be more trouble than it was worth. (Many also foolishly predicted, prior to Jean Brault's testimony, that no "smoking gun" would be found.)"
